GT Independence co-founders David Bair and Tim Carmichael

David Bair, MA, LLP, is the CEO and co-founder of GT Financial Services. He is a psychologist who has devoted over 25 years to improving mental health in Michigan. He brings a passion for helping people by empowering them to make their own choices. David possesses a genuine understanding of mental health issues as they affect service providers and consumers alike. Among the many programs and initiatives David has contributed to are: Supervisor for the Infant Mental Health Program; Home Based Teaching Friends (prevention services for children whose parents have developmental disabilities); Gentle Growth/Positive Experiences (prevention services for children whose parents have serious mental illness); School Partnership Program (partnership with the schools to provide school based services); Services to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Children’s Home Based Therapy Program; Collaborative Community Planning; OBRA Assessment and OBRA Specialized Services, Tribal Infant Mental Health Services and OBRA Assessments.

Tim Carmichael, CPA, is the CFO and Co-Founder of GT Financial Services. Tim has over 30 years experience as a financial administrator. Along with his extensive background in accounting, Tim brings a history of contribution to the community mental health system through his service on St. Joseph County, MI’s CMH board. Tim Carmichael’s training and experience as a CPA provide him with the background in accounting and the knowledge of applicable state and federal tax reporting obligations to perform as Fiscal Intermediary. He has been the owner of his own accounting firm. As Comptroller for a major company he was responsible for payroll, accounts payable, account reconciliations, and reports for a business organization with annual budgets in excess of 250 million dollars per year and more than 400 employees. He has served as a Board Member and Chair of his local ARCH (a sheltered workshop/supported employment facility). Despite his many accomplishments, Tim is most proud of his longtime role as father and advocate for his developmentally disabled son, Ben.
